With NFTs, the Metaverse, and GameFi gaining significant attention and traction, here is an overview of the latest and upcoming Web3 games that you absolutely should look out for!

Before the advent of modern technology, sticks and stones were used to play games. During the 16th century, intellectuals developed various board games like chess and checkers.

However, a major breakthrough was achieved when Web 1.0 was invented in the 9th century, and a gaming revolution began. Web-based applications changed the gaming dynamic, as gamers could now move with games on their phones, computers, and other portable devices.

Web3 has shown that the landscape can change even further; with P2E (Play to Earn) gaming and the mining of NFTs, gamers are ecstatic. Gaming giants Konami have announced that they will be hiring talented experts in the Web3 and Metaverse space to develop services and construct systems. These projects signify that gaming industries are preparing to transition with the Web3 revolution.

In lieu of these developments, there are various exciting Web3 gaming projects earning rave reviews; usually, because they are properly structured enough to be well incorporated with blockchain technology. A few even plan to integrate interesting tournaments that utilize rankings based on owned NFTs.

This article will look at some of these upcoming Web3-based games that show the most promise currently, either in circulation or already in the works.

Cometh

Cometh is a space technology game incorporating blockchain technology use cases like cryptocurrencies, yield farming, NFTs, crypto faucets, etc. It runs on smart contracts and is integrated using DeFi protocols.

This game also incorporates card game tactics during space battles, and players use a P2E mechanism to gain tokens.

Tournaments and leagues are organized to keep gamers active and increase their chances of winning and claiming rewards. Check out their monthly tournaments here.

Cometh is powered by the token $MUST, while the ships can be purchased on OpenSea as NFTs.

The Bazaar

From creating one of the best Esports card game teams to creating a potentially redefining game in The Bazaar, developers of this game are treading a very impressive path while also incorporating NFTs

The Bazaar team allows gamers to collect rare artifacts, monsters, and events to battle in an arena. This is not your regular card game, as it gives each game a unique feel, seeing that a new board is created after each game.

To better understand the game, a step-by-step procedure to involve gamers is regularly posted on their youtube channel, explaining how some of the events and characters came to be.

Check out The Bazaar and test your strategy, as it is available on all Windows, IOS, Android, and macOS.

Parallel TCG

This TCG (Trading Card Game) allows you to pick a faction from five and battle the other factions to gain control of the ultimate energy source. This is a free-to-play card trading game where you use teamwork and tactical strategy to get the upper hand against your adversaries.

The five factions gamers get to pick from are The Earthen, Marcolian, Ogancore, Kathari, and Shroud. Each faction has distinct storylines in this sci-fi universe.

Parallel is built on the Ethereum blockchain and is still undergoing development. The developers have designed plans to give gamers full ownership of their cards and some other gaming assets as NFTs.

A beta version is scheduled to be released in 2023, and gamers can follow the development of this exciting project on Parallel’s Twitter.

Undead Blocks

Undead Blocks launched in the third quarter of 2022 and is the first multiplayer Kill to Earn (K2E) game on the Ethereum network. Users can collect weapons and destroy zombies to earn.

This game even launched its first major competition on July 8th, 2022. This game provides the thrill of adventure and fills the pockets. The $UNDEAD token is earned when zombies are defeated.

Partnerships with friends are allowed. Rare weapons and different skins can be collected, and the $UNDEAD token can be exchanged for a stablecoin.

Cross The Ages

Lovers of sci-fi and fantasy will become engrossed in Cross the Ages. The setting is in a universe where mystical beings and magic meet. Let’s not forget the cyborgs employed all in a battle for power.

Players compete for valuable NFTs, and rare easter eggs are hidden in their universe. There is also the option to team up with your best mate and gain an advantage over other gamers. Users have access to this collectible card game which leverages blockchain technology.

Unlike other NFT acquisition games, designers have put in place options to collect physical representations of digital assets. These are the collectible NFC cards.

Illuvium

Illuvium is another fantasy game built on the Ethereum blockchain. Its $ILV token is also used in its DAO governance. Users travel the virtual world in their avatars, capturing beasts with the intention of trading them or taking them to battle in the arena.

The producers use Immutable X, which allows users to trade their NFTs without paying exorbitant gas fees.

Immutable X allows users to maintain custody of NFTs and get attractive game mechanics using off-chain minting. Transactions are instant, and a unique L2 is not needed to send or receive NFTs

Illuvium is expected to be released in the last quarter of 2022.

The Bornless

Lovers of Resident Evil and other horror-type games will love The Bornless. This game promises to be one of the best FPS (First Person Shooter) games in Web3.

While the game is still ongoing major construction, a closed beta testing can be played on Elixir. Gamers can also chat with the development team on their Discord.

The Bornless developers have designs to launch the $INCENSE token. Currently, it is a regular gaming currency on their Web 2.0 platform and is still being tested. The NFTs are divided into eight collections of 666 NFTs, with the total number expected to hit 5328.

Different organizations have joined as factions and tournaments are being worked on. The Bornless is available on Windows computers, with plans to introduce it to gaming consoles. The season 2 prototype is set to launch during winter 2022.

SHRAPNEL

Web3 gamers can witness a groundbreaking game brought to you by the developers of HALO, Call of Duty, Star Wars, and Westworld, among others. This game is going to get a lot of publicity because of employed advisors like Myth. Myth is a popular game streamer with over 7.4 million followers on Twitch and 4.3 million subscribers on Youtube.

Shrapnel is an upcoming AAA extraction game set in the future (The year 2044). It involves undertaking missions in specific areas of maps.

Shrapnel plans to give the gamers ownership of the assets and will use a token called $SHRAP. $SHRAP is to be used as a utility and governance token so that the game won’t use a dual token system.
